One of the mistakes people make when trying to communicate with their spouse about problems in their marriage is that they do not take time to have a real sit down with them.  You can not have a serious conversation about your marriage if you are not sitting, looking in each others eyes and completely focused on the conversation at hand.

You need to find a time when you and your spouse can be alone.  You need to plan it for a time when you both can be focused and when distractions can be eliminated.  You also want to make it a time when you are both ready and willing to talk. A major issue that occurs is pointing the finger and assigning blame.  It is easy to blame someone else for something, but it is much more effective to stop worrying about who is to blame.  Instead  define the problems and start to talk about how to fix them.
